The Masticator was started by two Minneapolis-area visionaries as a zine in the summer of 2004. Issue two was never realized, and half of its founding force moved to Brooklyn. Three years later, the electronic version of The Masticator has far eclipsed its single print-bound predecessor. Today, The Masticator posts art reviews, random urban snapshots, gentle political mockery, and other short articles on subjects like cars, fashion, and books.
I spent most of the day today indoors, to avoid the 70 degree heat, but I ventured out once the sun went down. the temperature has dropped to 68 now. In search of some sign, any sign of winter, I happened upon this beautiful giant Chanukah bear. If there's anyone who can bring us some snow, it has to be him.

Speaking of bears, the Coney Island Polar Bears Club "held a moment of silence, turned their backs on the Atlantic and headed toward the boardwalk" in protest of the 72 degree weather.
